Renowned for his exceptional precision and high-grade craftsmanship, Edge operated out of Manchester from the late 1827 until 1864, later collaborating on experimental rifling projects with Sir Joseph Whitworth. | This premium-grade specimen features a robust, six-shot fluted barrel cluster. The frame is beautifully decorated with classic British floral scrollwork that remains incredibly sharp and tactile. The left side of the action frame is crisply hand-engraved "J.W. Edge / Manchester", while the top strap features the definitive period marketing engraving, "IMPROVED REVOLVING PISTOL"—proclaiming its mechanically superior, trigger-activated self-rotating barrel design. | Of pinnacle importance to the advanced collector is the exceptionally low, three-digit serial number, 324, which is masterfully engraved within a dedicated scrollwork cartouche on the backstrap.
