JASPER Consigned By: Guy Selby Ranch, Marc Selby, St - Lazare, MB. Contact: (431) 275-6169 Breed: Grade Barn Name: Jasper Colour: Red Dun Sex: Gelding Date of Birth: 2018 Height: 14h.h. Weight: 1000 lbs. Jasper – Versatile, Smart, and Full of Personality! We’ve owned Jasper for a year and a half. He originally came to us from a farm that bought his mother with him at her side. Unfortunately, she passed away during his first year, and he spent the next 7 years living alongside sheep and dogs. When he first arrived, he was essentially untrained and truly believed he was one of the dogs! Over the last 18 months, we’ve put extensive time and miles on him under saddle while introducing him to the busy world, watching him blossom into a fantastic riding partner. He has found his place right in the middle of our herd and loves hanging out with the young horses. He has also spent a ton of time around our 2- and 3-year-old boys and actively seeks out their attention—he has the potential to make a wonderful kid or youth mount. I have ridden him extensively myself, and he has also successfully completed three separate 20 km trail rides carrying green riders. He’s been used for mounted archery, proving his cool head and willingness under pressure. Jasper learns remarkably fast and genuinely enjoys obstacles and games. He’s done free jumping in the round pen and shows an impressive vertical, making him a great candidate for English work or jumping. He has figured out how to open doors. He’ll play with locks and walk right into buildings to explore for food or toys. He has the looks, brains, and build to go in whatever direction his next partner chooses. Honest Notes & Areas in Progress: Jasper is smart and, like any clever pony, will occasionally test boundaries. On trails with a brand-new rider, he may pause to see what he can get away with before moving on. He is still working on his trailer manners—he tends to leap in and out rather than loading and unloading calmly—and he is still getting comfortable with fly spray. Jasper is a truly special pony with a huge heart, and anybody would be incredibly lucky to have him! - Additional Consignor Information - Discipline Best Suited For: Western All Arounder with potential for English Hunter/Jumper Does the Horse Have Any Defects?
