Cast in sturdy bronze, this wind bell is dated vintage and is crafted in the brutalist, architectural style famously pioneered by Italian-American artist Paolo Soleri. This bell depicts a sculptural saguaro cactus in relief across its side and showcases a rich verdigris patina throughout, highlighting its age and history of usage. Suspended beneath the heavy cast bell body is an internal clapper connected directly to a crinkled, multi-faceted sheet metal wind catcher designed to capture gentle breezes and emit a deep, resonance-filled tone. Unsigned, this bell's specialized sand-cast texture, and organic, Southwestern motif strongly match the mid-to-late 20th-century artisan production styles associated with the Cosanti and Arcosanti studio foundries in Arizona.
