Encapsulated 1899 Series $1 "Black Eagle" Large Size Silver Certificate - Parker/Burke (Fr. 232)

Encapsulated 1899 Series $1 "Black Eagle" Large Size Silver Certificate - Parker/Burke (Fr. 232)

Description

Designation: Series of 1899 $1 Large Size Silver Certificate ("Horseblanket") Mintage / Issue Year: Struck during the Parker/Burke signature term Friedberg Catalog Number: Fr. 232 (Blue Seal and Serial Numbers) Denomination: One Dollar ($1.00 USD) Signatures: Gabe E. Parker (Register of the Treasury) & John Burke (Treasurer of the United States) Serial Number: M26925523M Design & Historical Significance: Obverse: Features the iconic, majestically detailed "Black Eagle" perched atop an American flag, with the U.S. Capitol building visible in the background. Directly beneath the eagle are small, finely engraved vignette portraits of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant. Reverse: Showcases a vibrant, large green ornamental network of geometric lathe-work enclosing the mandatory legal tender text. Condition & Packaging Notes: Encapsulation: The note comes securely housed and encapsulated inside a premium, heavy-duty Lucite magnetic display holder. This protective case provides excellent clarity for viewing both sides while guarding against physical damage or bending. Paper Quality: Soft, circulated paper showing honest wear from historical use. The note maintains full borders and a mostly solid margin frame. Ink & Seal: The classic, deep blue ink on the serial numbers and the large scalloped blue treasury seal remains highly legible with minimal color fading. Defects/Markings: The obverse and reverse fields display scattered red and blue ink lines (faintly resembling stray security threads or light ink transfer). There are no heavy vertical tears, though generalized corner softening and light historical fold creases are visible.
