Ohio 164 Regiment Reunion Ribbons After Civil War Service

Description

Three reunion ribbons marking anniversaries following military units' service in the Civil War. Included are the 11th and 12th reunion of the 164th Reg't, O.V.I. (Ohio Volunteer Infantry), one is 1893 and the other in 1894. Also, a Joint Reunion ribbon for the 51st, 52nd, 80th and 98th Regiments, O.V.V.I. in 1905. The green ribbon is 6.5" x 2" and likely silk. Per AI via the National Park Service: the 164th..." helped fight off Confederate General Jubal Early's attack on Washington on July 11 and 12, 1864. Losses: Eighteen men died from disease during their term of service. Speech: President Abraham Lincoln spoke to the troops on August 18, 1864, thanking them as their time ended."
