WWI Imperial German Spiked Helmet
Description
World War One Imperial German Prussian "PIckelhaube," defined as ". . a spiked leather or metal helmet worn by German, Prussian and other military forces during the 19th and early 20th centuries...Early versions used metal, but manufacturers switched to hardened, shellacked black leather to reduce weight." From Wikipedia and other sources. The helmet is hardened, shellacked black leather. It measures 7.75" from bottom of one ear cover to the top of the spike. 7" wide ear to ear and 9" deep from front to back. Pictures will show a split in the leather and some cracking on one brim.
