Vintage 1960s Mid-Century “JAMES the BUTLER” Ceramic Desk Organizer

Offered at auction is a charming vintage porcelain gentleman figurine dressed in a classic black tuxedo, white vest, striped trousers, bow tie, and black shoes. The character has a whimsical, expressive face with rosy cheeks and a distinctive bald head. The figure is mounted on a brown rectangular base with metal holding arms/racks, making this an unusual and decorative piece for a desk. The open metal supports extend from both sides of the base and are designed to hold envelopes or letters. His outstretched hands are designed to hold a pen. The underside has a small area to hold things like paperclips. The hand-painted details, including the tuxedo, facial features, striped trousers, and shoes, give the piece plenty of vintage character. Dimensions: Approximately 8” tall x 4” wide x 4” deep Condition: Shows age and use with some paint loss, surface wear, discoloration and imperfections, particularly around the base.
