Antique Stoneware Bail Handle Crock | Primitive Kitchen Storage Pot

Description: A classic 19th or early 20th-century antique primitive utilitarian kitchen storage jar or butter crock pot. Wheel-thrown from heavy stoneware clay and finished in a two-tone salt glaze featuring a light cream exterior slip and a dark brown Albany-slip glazed interior basin. Built with an thick, defined collar rim designed for string-tied cloth coverings, integrated molded stoneware ears, and a swinging heavy-gauge wire bail handle fitted with its original turned wooden center grip. Dimensions: Stands approximately 10 inches high to the rim, extending to 15 inches high with the wire handle fully raised, by 9.5 inches in diameter. Markings: No capacity numbers or explicit manufacturer stamps are visible on the exterior walls or along the flat, unglazed bottom footprint. Condition: Authentic antique condition with standard signs of age and primitive utility. The heavy stoneware body is structurally sound and completely free of large structural cracks or major side panel breaks. The upper collar rim displays scattered shallow production blemishes, small glaze flakes, and light peripheral shelf wear. The interior basin is clean and well-glazed. The wire handle exhibits uniform surface oxidation, and the wooden grip remains intact with tight, historic check lines.
