$1 Silver Certificate Lot – Series 1957 & 1957B Blue Seals – Circulated Duo – In Protective Sleeves

$1 Silver Certificate Lot – Series 1957 & 1957B Blue Seals – Circulated Duo – In Protective Sleeves

Description

a classic two-piece collector lot of mid-century American paper currency history, featuring a Series 1957 and a Series 1957B $1 Silver Certificate. Instantly recognized by their striking blue Treasury seals and matching blue serial numbers, these historical notes represent the final era of standard small-size Silver Certificates when paper bills could be exchanged directly for raw silver bullion or coin at the U.S. Treasury. Both obverses feature the iconic engraved portrait of George Washington, while the reverses showcase the classic Great Seal of the United States. Offered raw and ungraded, this cohesive pairing is perfect for building historical sets, filling currency binders, or gifting to a budding collector. Both notes come individually displayed and safely housed inside separate semi-rigid, archival-safe protective currency sleeve displays. Designation: Vintage United States $1 Silver Certificate Two-Note Collector Lot Mintage Year: Series 1957 (Baseline Issue) and Series 1957B (Sub-Series Issue) Mint Location: Printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) in Washington, D.C. Denomination: One Dollar ($1.00 USD) per note / $2.00 Face Value Total Composition: Standard United States currency paper (75% Cotton, 25% Linen with embedded security fibers) Grade/Condition: Circulated / Fine to Very Fine (F/VF Details – Ungraded / Raw) Design & Mint Identification: This lot includes two distinct signature combinations spanning the 1957 design run. Note 1 (Series 1957, Serial F 22681819 A) features the baseline signature combination of Treasurer Ivy Baker Priest and Secretary of the Treasury Robert B. Anderson. Note 2 (Series 1957B, Serial T 61531414 A) features the later combination of Treasurer Kathryn O'Hay Granahan and Secretary of the Treasury C. Douglas Dillon. Both notes carry the iconic blue Treasury seal on the right field, perfectly framing the historic printed promise "In Silver Payable to the Bearer on Demand." Condition & Eye Appeal Notes: Both bills exhibit classic, matching signs of authentic mid-grade circulation that give them excellent historic character. They feature standard vertical and horizontal folding creases, uniform paper softening, and subtle corner rounding. Despite their time in commerce, both banknotes retain sturdy paper body integrity and clean, well-balanced margins. Note 2 features a small, faint pencil mark in the lower-left corner margin of its reverse, a typical trace of past bank teller sorting. The paper surfaces are free of heavy focal ink stains, handwritten pen annotations over the design, structural pinholes, or edge tears. The vibrant blue ink on the Treasury seals and serial numbers remains remarkably bold, sharp, and highly colorful on both pieces.
