Ajax Boiler Inc. low pressure steam boiler, nameplate model HRNG-20, serial and National Board number 72662, supplied through DME Brewing Services and used to serve the hot liquor tank and boil kettle. Nameplate ratings are 840,000 BTU per hour maximum input and 693,000 BTU per hour output at high fire, 693,000 BTU per hour minimum input and 571,726 BTU per hour output at low fire, 20 HP, 128 square feet of heating surface, and 15 psig maximum allowable working pressure. Natural gas fired, minimum 7 inch and maximum 14 inch water column gas pressure with 4 inch water column manifold pressure. Electrical is 120 volt, single phase, 60 Hz, 12 amps, with 120 volt control voltage. Inclined water tube with steam drum, floating head design to eliminate thermal shock, built from pressure vessel quality steel 3/8 to 1 inch thick. Equipped with operating control and high limit pressure control with manual reset, low water cut-off with water gauge glass and pump control, ASME approved pressure relief valve and electronic ignition. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section I stamped for 15 psig, ETL listed to UL Standard 795 and certified to CAN Standard 1-3.1, completely assembled and wired. Approximately 2,900 lbs. Minimum clearances to adjacent construction are 24 inches at top, sides, rear and flue, and the nameplate states the unit is not for installation on combustible flooring. The Ohio Department of Commerce boiler certificate of operation for this unit lists State ID 292599, manufacturer Ajax, National Board and serial number 72662, size 31 x 60 x 55, maximum pressure 15 psi, inspector Robert Wilson (State), last internal inspection 08/21/2024 and a certification expiration date of 09/30/2026; the newest inspection decal on the control cabinet is dated 8/8/25. Photographs show the boiler as installed with its flue stack, Ajax control cabinet, gas train, steam header and surrounding piping, along with a Bell and Gossett Domestic Series CM.C model 62CM boiler feed unit rated 6 GPM at 20 psi with a 609PF pump.
