Antique Kellogg Cast Iron State Of Ohio Trivet & Rosette Napkin Holder Lot

Description: A primitive two-piece collection of antique decorative kitchen ironware. The centerpiece is a heavy cast iron commemorative trivet molded in the geographical shape of the State of Ohio, featuring an openwork design depicting a rising sun over cultivated farm fields, wheat sheaves, and a bundle of arrows. Accompanying the Ohio piece is a circular cast iron tabletop napkin holder or letter caddy featuring a geometric interlocking flower rosette design and an integrated half-moon divider panel resting on three small peg feet. Dimensions: The Ohio state trivet measures approximately 6.5 inches long by 6.25 inches wide. The circular rosette napkin caddy measures 6.25 inches in diameter and stands 3.5 inches in height. Markings: The front border of the state plaque is cast with the historic motto text reading "GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF OHIO". The reverse side features a raised maker hallmark configuration reading "KELLOGG". The undercarriage of the rosette caddy is incised with the artist or foundry tracking initials and date code reading "J.Z.H. 1948". Condition: Authentic primitive condition. Both heavy iron castings are structurally sound and entirely free of breaks, fractures, or broken openwork lines. Widespread rustic weathering is present across both pieces, including an advanced red-brown surface rust patina, localized pitting, and extensive finish thinning. The three pegs on the caddy and the four support feet on the state plaque are completely stable.
