Antique Primitive Long-Handled Cast Iron Apple Butter Melting Ladle

This antique primitive apple butter ladle features an extra-long 41-inch hand-forged iron handle terminating in a classic circular hanging loop eyelet. The heavy cast iron bowl is uniquely engineered with dual pouring spouts—including a standard pointed spout on one side and a shallow notch on the opposite rim—allowing for precise pouring or skimming during traditional large-batch outdoor copper kettle boiling. This exceptional piece of early American agricultural hardware is perfect for collectors of country primitives, historic kitchenware, or rustic hearth decor. Lot Includes: 1 Antique long-handled cast iron apple ladle with dual pouring spouts Please review all photos carefully to evaluate the exact cosmetic condition and weathering before bidding. Condition Overview Ladle Bowl and Spouts: The heavy cast iron basin is structurally sound, free of deep fractures, stress cracks, or thinning areas under the belly. The interior of the bowl exhibits significant historic scale buildup, pitting, and a textured layer of orange-brown surface oxidation from decades of seasonal outdoor boiling. Both the prominent pointed pouring spout and the secondary notched side lip are fully intact without structural impacts or chips. Hand-Forged Long Handle: The extra-long 41-inch flat iron handle remains perfectly straight and rigidly attached to the bowl base via a thick, historically integrated forge weld. The length of the bar shows a dark, seasoned iron patina with uniform light surface rust and pitting. The circular hanging eyelet loop at the far end is properly formed and completely clear of blockages.
