Antique Two-Tone Albany Slip Glaze Stoneware Preserving Crocks - Trio

Description A rustic matched trio of late 19th to early 20th-century antique American country primitive utilitarian stoneware preserving jars or crocks from an unknown pottery maker. Each heavy stoneware crock features a classic cylindrical body finished in a two-tone glaze configuration. The upper shoulders and thick, collared rims are dipped in a rich, dark brown Albany-type slip glaze, which dramatically contrasts with the natural cream-colored bristol slip glaze applied across the lower bodies. These thick-walled canisters are designed with internal rim ledges meant to hold flat ceramic or tin lids secured by wax seals for long-term food preservation. Dimensions Height: Approximately 8.0 inches (20.3 cm) each Base Diameter: Approximately 6.0 inches (15.2 cm) each Condition Report True Ceramic Structure: All three crocks are thick, heavy, and structurally sound. They maintain stable base rings and completely unwarped cylindrical walls capable of upright display. True Base & Hairline Assessment: The bottom unglazed floors show standard mineral staining, firing imperfections, and shelf wear from age. The leftmost crock displays a distinct, tight hairline drying separation track or stable age crack line running across the exterior underside floor plank; this remains tight and does not flex or compromise the integrity of the wall. True Rim Glaze Flaws & Damage: Significant historical damage is present along the upper collared rims of the collection. The leftmost jar features a shallow glaze flake on its outer lip. The center jar displays a prominent, large structural breakout chip measuring approximately 1.5 inches wide along the outer collar rim edge. The rightmost crock similarly exhibits widespread, heavy rim chipping and structural gouges breaking through the dark brown glaze layer down to the underlying tan clay matrix, heavily exposing the porous interior body along the upper sealing channel.
